STATE GOVERNMENT DECIDES TO WAIVE OFF OUTSTANDING HOUSE TAX
75% PEOPLE OF 188 MUNICIPAL BODIES TO BE BENEFITED
Jaipur, March 2. The State Government has decided to waive off the outstanding house tax, giving a big relief to the people. The Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot gave sanction for this on Monday. Nearly 75 percent people residing in 188 Municipal bodies would be benefited with this decision of the State Government.
Over Rs. 700 crores of house tax is outstanding in the whole state, of this Rs.500 crores are in principal amount and Rs. 200 crores in penalty and interest. Nearly Rs. 600 crores will be waived off from the total outstanding amount of house tax with this decision of the State Government.
According to this decision, residential plots upto 300 square yard and the constructed area on these plots would be exempted from the principal amount and penalty of house tax. The small plot owners would be largely benefited by this decision.
It is to be noted that the big share of outstanding house tax is in the category of 300 square yards. In Jaipur city alone, house tax is outstanding on about 6.5 lakhs properties of this 5 lakh properties are in the category of 300 square yards or less than that.
The State Government has also decided to waive off 50 percent of the principal amount and full penalty on plots of more than 300 square yards, if all the outstanding house tax is paid upto 30th June, 2009.
This decision will not be applicable on the plots of non-residential category. The earlier order of providing 50% exemption in penalty upto March, 31st, 2009 for these categories of plots will remain applicable.
